Oktoberfest- Tiegs Style

We celebrated Rob's birthday last night German style!  We had pretzels, brats, beer, oompah music and friends- all dressed up!  It was a lot of fun for all.  I've been working on the details for the past month, I love planning this kind of stuff!  The best part is that everyone showed up in costume.  I'm pretty sure we'll have to do that party again, it was too much fun to do.  I ended up making the girls costumes, they were so cute in them! We decided that the party should be re-located to Leavenworth next year.

2 Months Old
Our sweet little Kylie is 2 Months old, and a chunky little monkey at that!  Today she weighed in at 13lbs 8 oz... the 97th percentile!  She's at the 75th percentile in height... shorter and heavier than Mya at the same age.  Bring it on!  This peanut is sleeping really well, I got 5 hours last nigh.  Nobody is starving at our house!  Kylie is smiling a lot more now.  It's amazing how rewarding a beautiful little smile can be!  Here are a few of here latest photos!
Thanks to Peggy for the cute outfit!
Sweet smiles and coos

Pumpkin Carvin'
We had a great time carving pumpkins with Bryan, Andrea and the boys.  It was funny to hear the comments of these "city" kids cleaning them out!  As a farm kid, I'm pretty sure that I wasn't grossed out by pumpkin innards, we've gotta get Mya into the mud more often!  She did a good job at pulling the gunk out, but was happy to wash her hands!

I could get used to this staying home stuff!

We got the cool opportunity to visit the Lynnwood fire station. Our Mom's group from church coordinated it, and it was really fun to get to check out the big red engine up close! Many thanks to the two firemen who took the time to give us a tour!

Visiting the Pumpkin Patch
We did this a couple of weeks ago... I'm just a bit backlogged on my posts!  The day turned out beautiful for us, everyone else in the area decided to visit the patch as well!  In the 3 years we've gone to this farm, its never been so crazy packed!  We decided they must have paid into some marketing and created a cool corn maze this time around.Despite the business, we had a great time with Aunt Michelle &Uncle Steve.

Product Reviews

I've been meaning to do a post for a long time of several products I've been really happy with.  I've become a big fan of product reviews online, mostly thru Amazon & recipes.  I've been pretty happy with everything I've purchased with the positive reviews.  They were all referred to me by someone else, they've made my life a bit easier!

1.  The first one saved our whole family a lot of sleep.  Mya was waking up before 6:00am for a long time, and it was tough on all of us.  So, thanks to Lisa Lindley's blog (who battled the same issue), we purchased the "Good Nite Light."  This little miracle worker shines blue when it's time to go to bed and yellow when it's time to get up.  The best part is that you can set the time.  The only draw back is that it can't be re-set for nap time.  There is only one sun and one moon.  However, it's been wonderful, and Mya still likes to show us that her sun is yellow in the morning.  She hasn't gotten out of bed until it comes on.

2.  My inlaws, Steve & Michelle told me about this lovely tub cleaner.  I HATE cleaning the bathtub.  I'll do the toilets any day, but the tub is always the one that you can scrub for 10 minutes and still see grime later that you missed.  This scrubbing bubbles automatic sprayer is wonderful!  Spray it on your tub, by simply holding down a little button, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then use a wash cloth to wipe it clean.  LOVE IT! It's pretty potent, but it does the job really quickly.

3.  Next to the bottle in the picture is "Zip It" referred to me by a couple of co-workers.  This little gem is mabye $3 at Home Depot, but rocks when used to clean hair out of your drain!  We haven't had to purchase drain-o in about a year thanks to this little tool.  It's made of plastic and has several teeth down the side of it, that are pretty sharp.  You just shove it down your drain, and it catches all the gunk and hair and pulls it out really easily.  It says to use it once, but I've kept mine, and just clean it off... works great!

4.  The last product, the diaper champ, was given to me by our friend, Jackie.  Her family has outgrown diapers, and since we were headed back to that land, she passed it to me.  We previously had the diaper genie, which filled up twice as quickly, and the refill bags you had to buy for that thing were close to $8 each.  So lame to spend a lot on garbage bags.  The champ is certainly better in my opinion, you can use whatever bag you want, and it doesn't stink (an obvious plus).  You can also throw a diaper away with one hand.  Bye bye genie!!!

A ladybug update...they're here!

Girl Time

Our sweet girls

Although it's not super productive, we are having a lot of fun together everyday at home.  Mya has been a good helper with the baby, and Kylie is growing a lot.  She's getting rolls in her thighs and a double chin, I'll pass off the weight anytime!  It's amazing how much time I end up spending feeding Kylie, preparing meals and getting dishes/laundry going.  I have a lot less time to play with Mya than I originally expected.  I'm sure it'll get easier as Kylie starts to feed a bit quicker, and less frequently.  But in the mean time, we're enjoying reading library books, Mya dances during feeding time and doing a project together when we can fit it in.
Mya giving Kylie a binki, such a good helper!

That time of year...
I'm loving being home this time of year.  I love fall.  This week we got to do a play date with friends to decorate pumpkin cookies.  Nothing like doing it on Monday morning at 10:00am!!!  Mya and I made the cookies, and decided to make some more to take to Daddy's office.  So, we've had a lot of fun baking the past few days.  They weren't the most beautiful, but we had a great time together!  The trick is keeping everything out of her mouth!

Loving my time with our girls!!!

I love dance!

Mya loves going to her dance class.  For one class every other month, they open the curtains to the dance studio so parents can watch.  Needless to say, we were there with our camera!  She's doing a great job, they do tap, ballet, tumbling, and baton.  It was great to watch and see what she's been talking about for the past few weeks.  Her teacher is wonderful, Ms. Missy, I'm very impressed with how she keeps a group of 3 year old chatty girls on task.  Mya has a recital in December, I'm excited to see what they come up with for that event!

My favorite picture- doing a plea

Sweet Moments
Her favorite mirror
Sweet Sisters
Rapunzel

I'm really enjoying the time I have with our girls, we've had so much fun already, but time is going too fast!  They are both little sweet peas, although we've had plenty of 3 year old discipline moments... the majority has been wonderful.  Its so fun to begin to laugh with your child!

Happy 7th Anniversary to my Wonderful Husband!
We got to enjoy our 3rd date in 3 years Saturday night, out to dinner and the show of Jerry Seinfeld.  The guy is so funny.  His opener was okay, but after Jerry came out, the show was on.  He is so good at making fun of real-life stuff, and social norms.  We had a great time.  It felt pretty funny to be out on our own- I felt like a grown up! Rob said he felt young again!  We celebrated a month late, since I was in the hospital on our actual anniversary.  Better late than never, right?  Many thanks to Aunt Michelle & Uncle Steve for watching the girls for us!
