Holiday Treats

We surprised Mya and got tickets to the 5th Avenue's production of Cinderella the musical. We had a date with her, it was funny to be just the 3 of us again!  She really enjoyed it, her eyes were glued to the stage the whole time! She loved the singing and dancing- a no fail combination for her. The best part of the Rogers and Hammerstein version of the "wicked" step sisters are very funny, so she wasn't nervous at all (which I was a little concerned about). For those of you going- (Christi I know you are...), be sure to get there early enough to get a cushion for your little one's seat and here is a link to a youtube production they have the exact same costumes and set if you want a little preview!

We also kicked off our Christmas season by making a gingerbread house (Grandma & Grandpa were here to help take photos), always a fun little project for our family!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a nice day yesterday, hosting our Thanksgiving celebration.  Kylie's first Thanksgiving was great, she had both sets of grandparents here to play with.  Mya was a brave girl and tried Turkey for the first time, she actually liked it!  Previously she wouldn't eat any kind of white meat.  We're making headway in that department!  Thank you to the family who joined us!

A Major Undertaking...

Since we've been blessed with our little Kylie, big sister has had a major regression the potty training department.  It's 100% a balance of power issue, and we've done everything to learn how to deal with it.  FINALLY, after months of knock down drag-outs and LOTS of laundry and likely my worst moments to date as a parent... Mya has found a solution.  We have had a "No Peeing In Her Undies" chart on the fridge for about a month, but we finally made it work.  For 7 days, she had to stay dry, and the reward would be a Lemon Meringue doll (from Strawberry Shortcake).  Originally, it was 7 consecutive days, but it was not very attainable.  After a few days of not staying dry, she said, "I don't want a sticker."  At the end of my rope, and as a last resort, early last week I asked her, "how are we going to make this work?"  She said that she wanted me to set the alarm on my phone as a potty reminder (which we've tried 2-3 times before).  I was willing to give it a try, as her idea this time.  Needless to say, we've had a fairly successful week going to the potty every hour.  Tuesday night, we got to go to Target to pick out her Lemon Meringue doll... she chose the mini dolls and got four of them.  I think I was more proud of it than she was!  We've all worked hard on this project!

First Snow
Mya was delighted to wake up to the snow that actually stuck from last night! Our morning was filled with the healthy laughter and fun of snow play... as much as we could with the almost 1" that was left on the ground.  Snow=bliss in the eyes of a child.  In her bedtime prayer, Mya asked for more snow tomorrow.  This may be her first lesson in learning about God's time!  Here is a little sample of our time!

Cousins Rock!

We've had a great time with cousins visiting us! If you ever need birth control, invite four kids age 3 and under to hang out with two adults (for a majority of the day)! On the verge of chaos..we had a so much fun visiting the beach(a perfect November day I may add...), the park and just playing at our house. The best adjective for the situation is BUSY!  Try packing up to go somewhere in a single vehicle- that's a job!  Needless to say, Mya and Trent have a wonderful time together, we're hoping Miles and Kylie connect in the same way when they get older.  They have a sweet little relationship, laughing and playing together.  For now, Suz and I have been damage control and just try to minimize the crying when possible.

Girls
Since Kylie was born about the same time of year as Mya, we're able to use all of the same clothes so far.  Needless to say, I decided to do a photo of Kylie in the same outfit as Mya at 2 months old.  I'm sure this won't be the last time I try it!  Putting them side by side makes them look a lot different!

Wonderful News!

We've had a 6 month siesta from visiting the cardiologist, and we just went for a routine appointment this week. We are thrilled to report that Mya doesn't have to return for another year!!! PRAISE GOD! This will be the longest time away from Children's Hospital since she was born.  Her heart is functioning normally- no issues at this time!  Our little angel is doing great.  God is good.
